Rosa Maria Marquez

Rosa Marquez was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday March 4th, 2009. Born December 13, 1934, Rosa our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend lived her life teaching us how to love each other by always expressing her love and the love of God to all she came in contact with. She will always be remembered for her random acts of generosity and kind words which seemed to be delivered at the most opportune moment and with perfect grace. Rosa finally succumbed to the cancer she had once beat 16 years ago after a fiercely courageous and dignified battle. Never losing hope and always smiling Rosa bid this life farewell having taught us the meaning of courage and inner strength. We wish to express our most heartfelt thanks to all the neighbors and friends who rallied around the family during her last days with an outpouring of love and support that was truly inspiring. Rosa’s family has been deeply touched by, and is forever grateful to all her exceptional caregivers; Dr. Ragene Rivera, the entire 4th floor nursing staff at Sierra Medical and the wonderful care givers of La Mariposa Hospice. We thank God for you all. Rosa is survived by her sons Eduardo and Guillermo (“the favorite”) Guerrero, daughter Rosa Alvelais, and Enrique Treviño (“her other son”), daughters in-law Lillis and Mari, and son-in-law Enrique; grandchildren Paola, Christie, Zarina, Rosie, Enrique, Miguel, Annie, Andres, and Carlos. We will always miss you but never forget the lessons you taught us or the faith in God you gave us. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Friday, March 6, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-West, Chapel of Remembrance with a Vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 7, 2009 at St. Patrick Cathedral. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery, Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
