Ronald William Hinkle

Ronald William Hinkle was born on January 4, 1938 at Fort Sam Houston. San Antonio, Texas and passed away on May 14, 2008. He is predeceased by his parents William A. and Cleo Hinkle. Ronald attended high school from 1952 through 1957 at Lamar High School in Arkansas graduating in June of 1957. In July of the same year, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for more than 21 years. During those years he served in Wyoming, California, Japan, South Vietnam, Nevada, Turkey, Arizona, Virginia, Hawaii, and Texas retiring in 2002. During his service, in 1968, he married his sweetheart Mary Elizabeth. They would have been married 40 years this November. During 1969 his daughter Hilary was born, and in 1974 was the birth of Melanie. After retirement, Ronald served for two years as a private security guard, than performed security for White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico where he eventually transferred back to Telecommunications and in 1981 he transferred to Fort Bliss, Texas. He was the Lead Telecommunications Team leader until his retirement in 2002. Ronald loved sports and was an avid bowler while serving in the military. Earning many trophies and awards. After retirement, he pursued his passion of golf. Attending many local and out of state tournaments, as well as marshalling at Fort Bliss Golf Course, he was on the greens many days of the week. He loved taking trips with his family and especially loved touring Yellowstone National Park. He was also an avid reader and loved music. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his daughters, Hilary and Melanie; son-in-law Todd; Grandson’s Eddie, Joshua and Zachary. And, as well Doris, his sister and many nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the American Cancer Society. Graveside services at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Interment will follow with full military honors at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Service entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Please visit on-line register book at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
