Ron Banerji passed away unexpectedly at his home in El Paso on September 10, 2023. He was 49. Ron was born in the town of Khewra, Pakistan, before moving to the United States in 1977, growing up in New Orleans, La., and Libertyville, Ill. After completing his Bachelor's at the University of Illinois Champagne-Urbana, Ron turned his focus to the law. After graduating cum laude with his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame, Ron began his career as an attorney serving as an associate in intellectual property litigation. He later found his passion in criminal prosecution, most recently serving as Assistant District Attorney Appellate Division for the El Paso District Attorney’s Office. His dedication to his work was only surpassed by his love for his family. A beloved son, brother, husband, and father, Ron’s quick wit kept those around him laughing. Curious and empathetic, Ron was always looking to learn from others and had the ability to strike up authentic conversations with anyone who crossed his path. He was an avid reader of science fiction, lover of alt rock, and master griller. He enjoyed being active and loved anything that got him outdoors—traveling, scuba diving, and sailing. He was a rock to his family and friends, the one whom people reached for in difficult times. Generous to the core, he gave freely and made connections to others effortlessly. He is survived by his wife, Amanda; children, Samantha and Alex; mother, Juliet Ghandhi; stepmother, Mary Forester; four siblings, Leena Banerji (Derek O’Toole, Nolan, Ahna and Ava), Jennifer Ghandhi (Danny Macklin and Penelope), Michelle Degen (Mike) and Brian Banerji; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
