Rodolfo Peña

Rodolfo Peña passed away on Dec. 11,2020 in El Paso, Texas. After a brief illness he was 87 years old. Born on February 3, 1933 in Cameron, Nuevo León Mexico to Alberto Rojas Peña and Juanita Peña (Torres.) He was educated in the public schools of El Paso and following graduation he enlisted in the US Navy. Rodolfo honorably served as a Navy aircraft electrician during the Korean war. His devotion and love for his country inspired his son and grandson to serve their country as well. After leaving the service Rodolfo married Estella Peña (De la Torre) in September 1959 and settled in El Paso where they lived and raised their family. During his life Rodolfo worked in a variety of fields from the banking and finance industry to being a business owner and finally as an educator. It was his love of business that led him to return to school and earn a degree in business administration from the then Texas Western College now known as UTEP. Rodolfo worked for N.E.D.A in small business development. There are businesses in El Paso that are still in operation today that he helped gain the resources they needed to get started. Rodolfo spent many years as an educator, and it was his interest in business and education that led him to take a position as an instructor at the Job Corps center in El Paso. He served as an instructor in the World of Work program helping the students properly prepare for the challenges of the work world and gave them the tools they needed to succeed. Rodolfo is survived by his four children Rodolfo Peña Jr. of El Paso, Eric Peña of El Paso, Jacqueline Dykes (Joe) of Salisbury, Md and Lorie McCarthy (Tom) of El Paso. He is also survived by his grandchildren Monserrat Peña of El Paso, Dayan Delgado of Austin Texas, Elizabeth Horner (Casey) of Salisbury, Md, Rachel Atwater (Chris) of Salisbury, Md, Hannah Tyler (Robbie) of Oak hall VA, Josiah Teller of El Paso and Caroline Teller of El Paso and one great grandchild Avery Tyler of Oak Hall VA. Rodolfo was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years Estella Peña, his parents and seven brothers, as well as a great grandson Lucas Reese Tyler. A private Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on December 21st at Sunset Funeral Homes - East on N. Carolina Dr. with Internment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. All arrangements are being handled by Sunset Funeral Homes - East.
