Rochester Johnson

Rochester Johnson, son of the late Thomas Sr. and Blanche Carrigan Johnson, was born June 9, 1930. He departed this life on April 29, 2008. Rochester served in the United States Army for twenty-five years. He received numerous awards and metals including the Silver Star for Valor, the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Metal. He retired in 1975 as a First Sergeant and was highly respected. He was very loved and respected by many in the community. He was a very strong willed man, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Shirley Johnson. His five children, Jeannie DeHaven of Centersville, VA, Deborah Johnson of Charlotte, NC, Rocky (Christina) Johnson of Charleston, SC, Timothy (Patricia) Johnson of Lorsch, Germany, and Karen (Timothy) Singletary of Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren, Jamara Hall, Shintra DeHaven, Ashley Dent, Benjamin Johnson, Davonne Dent, Justice Singletary, Justin Johnson, Alexander Johnson, Christopher Singletary, Alyssa Johnson and JaKara Johnson and a great-great grandchild. In Iieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association at 909 E. San Antonio, El Paso, TX 79901. Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Interment will be Private. Service entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
