Roberto Loya

June 14, 1932 — May 2, 2008

Roberto Loya (SP4 U.S. Army) Our loving brother, passed away on May 2, 2008 at the age of 75 years. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas. Mr. Loya served in the U. S. Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was decorated with the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, UN Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Later in life he was the Chef at Forti’s Mexican Elder Restaurant for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria L. Ramos, sister, Estela Rombach and brother; Ricardo Ramos. His survivors include sisters, Dora Santoscoy, Bertha Ramos, Alicia Dimas, brother-in-law, Carlos Santoscoy, brothers, George Ramos and wife Emma, Luis Ramos Jr. and wife Blanca, Rodolfo Loya and wife Maria Elena, also cousins, nephews and nieces. Special Thanks to all the nurses on the Oncology Floor at Sierra Medical Hospital for the wonderful care and love they gave our brother and also to Dr. Jesus A. Gomez for his kindness, care and for getting him all the help he needed. Visitation will be from 6-9 pm on Thursday, May 8, 2008 with a Vigil at 7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East, located at 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be at 12:15 pm on Friday, May 9, 2008 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be, Tony Ramos, George Del Olmo, Luis Ramos, David Dimas, David Santoscoy and Rodolfo Loya. Honorary Pallbearer will be Albert Cunes. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
