ROBERTO DE HARO – January 4, 1941 to May 5, 2024
Roberto “RD” De Haro was born on January 4, 1941 and passed away on May 5, 2024 at the age of 83. He was affectionately known by many of his family members and friends as “RD”. Roberto, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend, resided in Socorro, Texas, for most of his life. He was known for his strong work ethic, kindness, contagious smile and good heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Enrique De Haro and Beatrice Alvarado; sisters, Elvira Tellez and Virginia De Haro Morales; and grandson, Gerardo “Jerry” Serna, Jr.
Roberto is survived by his beautiful wife of 63 years, Alicia De Haro; son, Roberto De Haro Jr.; daughters, Cynthia De Haro and Yvonne De Haro; brothers, Francisco De Haro and Arturo De Haro; and sisters, Ruth Candelaria and Beatrice Urquidi. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, who will forever hold precious memories of their beloved patriarch.
RD had a rich and rewarding work-life. He served as a plant manager, which afforded him many opportunities to travel the world during his 40-plus years at Farah Manufacturing Company. He then moved on to Ready One Industries, where he retired after spending 15 years as a manager. Just as he led and inspired many employees during his career, he also guided his family through many wonderful adventures.
Mr. De Haro lived life to the fullest. He was awed by the wonder of nature, spending countless hours camping, boating and fishing with family and friends. RD demonstrated his loyalty to El Paso and the Great State of Texas by his enthusiastic support of the UTEP Miners, Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. When he wasn’t at work or cheering for his favorite athletic teams, Roberto could be found tending to his yard, ensuring that it was always in tip top shape.
Roberto De Haro could “light up a room” by his mere presence. Over his 83 years, he laughed with friends, lifted people up when they were down, and lovingly embraced his children and grandchildren. RD truly continues to reside in our hearts. As Helen Keller put it, “What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.”
“Well done, good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:23)
