Robert I.(Bob) Sinn, 86, passed away on Sunday, February 11, at his home, 300 Shadow Mountain Drive, El Paso, TX after a short/lingering illness. A native of the Midwest, Bob and his wife chose Texas for their retirement home and had lived in Harlingen, Kerrville, and San Antonio before finally moving to El Paso. Bob was born on June 17, 1920, in Cedar Rapids IA, the eldest child of Dr. Irvin J. and Elizabeth Garrigan Sinn. After graduating from Williamsburg High School, he attended the University of Iowa where he was active in Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and where he met his future wife, Stella Jayne Lewis of Aledo, IL. After three and one-half years at the University of Iowa with a pharmacy major, he volunteered for service in the US Army Air Force in 1942 and was stationed in Sikeston, MO. On May 1, 1943 Bob was united in marriage with Stella Jayne Lewis in the First Methodist Church at Sikeston, MO after which he was sent overseas. Bob was stationed in England with the Air Force where he saw action as a bombardier serving on many air raids over Europe. At the conclusion of the war, Bob returned to his home but shortly thereafter took a position with Deere & Company in the Quad-Cities where he was employed for 34 years rising through the ranks to become Divisional Supt of the Dubuque Plant. Bob and Stella traveled extensively overseas as well as in the United States finally retiring in 1974. Bob had many interests and talents. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, he constructed his beautiful home in Rock Island which required carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills and enjoyed yearly fishing trips and hunting trips with his father. He developed an interest in flying his own airplane, and his help was especially welcomed in the home of his parents. He was a member of the Rock Island Masonic Lodge Consistory and the local Presbyterian Church. Bob is survived by his widow, Stella Jayne Sinn, his two sisters, Dolores Wolters of Sarasota, FL and Alberta (Norman) Kallaus, Iowa City IA as well as four nieces, Anne Wallace, Meg Thompson, Clare Phillips, and Beth Hecomovich and one nephew, John Wolters of San Antonio TX.
