Robert Maurice Shiloff

Robert Maurice Shiloff, 90 passed away at home on November 20th.  “Bob” was born in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Archie Shiloff and Freda Lass.  A graduate of Central High School in Sioux City, he married the love of his life, Sara, after they met at the University of Houston.
Bob moved to El Paso with Sara and their then two children in 1964.  Supplied with a list of names of El Pasoans that their friends from Houston knew, they quickly found El Paso to be a warm and welcoming community.  As dedicated sports fans, they relished the 1966 basketball season of Texas Western and were lifelong UTEP Miner fans after that.
Bob successfully ran Terk Distributing Company and the El Paso branch of the family’s wholesale beer, wine, and liquor business until its sale in 2000.  During his life, he and Sara had the opportunity to travel all over the world, visiting almost every country that would be on one’s bucket list.  They once counted just the number of cruises they’d been on and were surprised that the number exceeded sixty.  Bob would often remark that he’d had a fortunate and wonderful life on earth.
Bob is survived by his wife Sara, and their three children; Bryan (and his late wife Sylvia), Stuart (Nancy), and Robyn (William), and by six grandchildren; Saundeurs Shiloff, Noah, Rachel, and Jordan Prangner, and Rebecca and Asa Shiloff.  He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren; Lylah, Rose, Malcolm, and Desmond as well as his sister; Rochelle Parkman. 
Bob so loved El Paso that he always wanted to give back to the city and all it meant to him as he ran a business and grew a family.   In doing so, he made certain that his contributions to the city and his impact on it would continue for years.  Contributions in his honor can be made to: Temple Mt. Sinai in El Paso, The Jewish Federation of El Paso and The El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center.  
A Graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Temple Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
