Robert (Bob) Oscar Meeks passed away January 31, 2025, just after his 93rd birthday in El Paso TX. He was born January 26, 1932, in Presidio, Texas to parents Luther and Tennie Qualls Meeks, and he was the 6th child of 9. 

Bob joined the army after graduating from Thatcher High School in Thatcher, Arizona. He served in the Korean War and received Silver Star, Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart. While convalescing from injuries received from grenade shrapnel in an Osaka Japan hospital he met and married Haruko Takemoto. After being honorably discharged from military service, he worked as a mechanic and eventually settled down in Roswell. 

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and turning rocks into works of art, and he had a great sense of humor. 

He has five children who survive him: Carol Larez of Roswell, Bill (Lori) Meeks of Midland TX, Ralph (Tess) Meeks of Roswell, Jimmy (Lyndia) Meeks of Roswell, and Polly Coles of Greenfield, Indiana. 

He has many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

Those that preceded him in death are his parents, his brothers: Jack, Ralph, Roy, Ellis and Bill, his sisters: Alene, Ruth, and Jeannie. 

He will be honored with a graveside service with inurnment in Roswell. Though he was in failing health he retained his sense of humor and mental acuity until his passing.
