Robert has worked for Helen of Troy for over 10 years and has had a profound impact and influence on his family, friends and the community of El Paso in respect to his kindness, generosity, teachings, sense of humor and the gifts of his photography and musical compositions. Robert has always been a very private and humble person who demonstrated his love for family and friends through everyday interactions without the need for grandiose gestures. He respected everyone as individuals, quick to laugh and joke but did not tolerate drama or shenanigans in any part of his life. Robert’s musical gift and talent was expressed through the instruments he played and mastered, trombone, piano, harmonica and guitar, as well as his beautiful vocals and harmonies. He developed close bonds and relationships with his brother/sister musicians through the music he loved and performed. He is an accomplished, published composer and songwriter whose music is being shared via The Robert Madrid Project. Inspiration for some of his music was derived by life experiences, his worldly travels and by his family. He was a member of and sat in with many local bands: EKG and the Suicide Horns, Unfinished Business, El Paso Band, Kenji Tribe, Players, Alibi, Windy City, Rhapsody, Hypnosis and the Sunshine Pumpers, to name a few. He was blessed with perfect pitch and a sense of loyalty and showmanship that will never be matched. He is loved and respected throughout the music/ musician community.
Special recognition for his brothers/ sisters bound by time, friendship and love of music, Joe Martin Gonzalez, Ernie Rivera, Raul Montes and Patty Fox.
