Robert William Jones, 66, passed away peacefully at his home on Dec. 4, 2009. Born in Streator, IL to a veteran of WWII and Korea, “Bob” served his country in the U.S. Army for over 23 years in Asia, Europe and the Mediterranean. He continued to serve his country for over 20 years in several assignments in Civil Service in Germany and El Paso - the latest assignment at William Beaumont Army Medical Center’s Emergency Department. Always the protector and provider, he worked his entire life to maintain a safe and loving home for his family. He also selflessly helped war veterans, military personnel, and anyone who needed a helping hand. An avid motorcyclist, fisherman, woodworker and Volkswagen enthusiast, Bob called El Paso home for nearly forty years. He spent several years as an active member of the Lions Club, which assists disabled and diabetic children, and helps provide eyeglasses for those in need. He was also a member of the local Patriot Guard riders and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Yucca Post 8919. He is preceded in death by his Father, James Henry Jones, and his mother, Dorothy Harrison Jones. He is survived by his wife of 28 years Edrena; son William Bradley, daughter-in-law Cassaundra, and grandchildren; his second son Carl; his brother Scott and sister-in-law Angie, children and grandchildren; he will also be remembered by numerous cousins and their families as well as ex-wife Linda and her children. Memorial Service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass, on Dec. 21 from 11 am to 12:30 pm, interment and full military honors to follow at 2:30 pm at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Blvd. There will not be a procession. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to any charity benefiting veterans or military service members and their families, or the charity of your choice.
