Robert Joseph Jones was called to heaven on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the age of 80, in El Paso, TX.
He was born August 6, 1940 in Austin, TX. He graduated from Cathedral High School, received his Bachelors of Arts from College of Santa Fe and Master of Arts from University of New Mexico. He was a proud educator for over 40 yrs, mostly within the Ysleta School District. He married the love of his life, Elsie, and they shared 57 years of marriage. They have two children, Anna Chandler (Kenneth) and Joseph Jones (Kathleen), and four grandchildren, Eleora, Robert, Alina and Connor. He is also survived by his sister Ann Morales (Robert) and his brother James Jones as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was passionate about his faith and the love and devotion of his family…ALWAYS! He was an avid Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees and Notre Dame football fan…rarely missing any of these games and always wore their gear. His love of music spanned across his 80 years, from Patsy Cline, Ray Charles, Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley to George Strait, Linda Ronstadt, J-Lo, and Lady Gaga and this love has transcended every family generation as well as many visitors and friends. Dad was also best friends with The Cartwright’s of Bonanza, Rawhide, The Barkley’s of Big Valley, Marshall Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke, The Virginian and he was definitely a “Trekkie” alongside James T. Kirk. Dad was the best! He was always welcoming, with only had nice things to say and couldn’t be more supportive of everything every family member did or was a part of! He never missed an activity or game and worked after school tutoring, taught night classes, summer school and worked high school sporting events to ensure we had everything we needed.
He is preceded in death by his mother Ann Milicia Jones and father EJ Jones.
Rest in peace Dad, play some baseball up there, running and breathing freely and please watch over us! We are going to miss you so much!!
