Robert "Jim" James Sellers

December 9, 1925 — June 24, 2008

Robert James “Jim” Sellers was born in Florence, South Carolina on December 9, 1925 and went to be with our Lord on June 24, 2008, peacefully, in the company of his adoring wife of sixty years, Betty Ann Sellers. He is survived by his three children, Deborah Nelson, Timothy Sellers and Robert Sellers Jr., grandchildren, Andrew Sellers, Amber Rose Saare, and Stephanie Erin Lopez, and great grandchildren, Wyatt Timothy Saare and Emmalynn Rose Saare. Jim Sellers was a highly decorated World War II veteran, serving in the US Navy as a machine gunner on a PB4Y bomber in the China Burma India Theater, flying over 52 missions. He was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses with Valor, along with nine Air Medals, also with Valor. Following WWII, Jim met and married the love of his life, Betty Ann, while attending college at the University of South Carolina. Jim reenlisted in the US Army and continued his service through the Korean and Vietnam wars, retiring in 1973 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. Jim and Betty made many sacrifices providing for the welfare of their three young children during their numerous assignments around the world. Jim and Betty settled in El Paso and founded Sellers Realty, Inc. in Northeast El Paso. Together, Jim and Betty forged a mark as treasured members of the Northeast community. Jim never met a stranger and was loved by all. Jim enjoyed his service in the Northeast Rotary Club, and really loved his time with the boys there. Jim was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather and great grandfather. Today, he is with our Lord, rejoicing in the company of those he loved who preceded him. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast located at 4631 Hondo Pass. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, June 30, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Interment will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
