Robert McVey “Big Bob” House, devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend, was called home to Our Father on October 16, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents: Hiram and Elma; sisters: Hilda Harrell and Jane “Andy” Friedman; and brothers: Hi and Milton. Bob was a World War II Veteran who dearly loved his country. He loved the simple things in life: 4th of July picnics, corny jokes, music, and zaps. He loved hunting, playing baseball, riding motorcycles, and watching a good John Wayne western… but most of all, he loved his family and friends. He loved it when “the gang” got together to swim, sing songs, play pool, and shoot the breeze. Big Bob has gone home but he has left us with a lifetime of happy and loving memories, and he has shown us what it is to truly live. Well done, Big Bob!! Rest in peace…we will miss you, and we will love you always. Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Becky; daughters: Bobbi, Betsy, and Lark; and sons-of-the-heart: Luke La Point and Corbett Haguewood. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Amanda, Aaron (Bubba), Bobby, Erik, Leo, Traci, Vanessa, and Beth; brothers: Paul and John House; sisters-in-law: ChulaTrout, Chickie House, Jean Hawley, and Shirley House; and brother-in-law, Karl Friedman. Many heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of the Ambrosio Guillen Texas State Veterans Home for the excellent care they provided to Bob and for all the support they have given to our family.Visitation will be held from 5-8pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7pm on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30am, Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
