Robert L Harriman

Robert Leroy Harriman, 86, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018. Bob was born in Nashue, New Hampshire on April 19, 1932 son of Asa and Laura (Hardy) Harriman. He graduated from Rummey High School and left to serve his country proudly in the United States Air Force for more than twenty years. As a Master Sergeant, Harriman had specific duties related to maintenance as a Maintenance Superintendent on B52's and KC135 and KC97 aircraft. He has been stationed in Guam, Okinawa as well as stateside duty in New Hampshire, Maine, Michigan, Kansas and Alaska. MSGT Harriman married Rosemary T. Hayes (Albert) his beloved wife on February 18,1967. He became a dedicated father figure to her three children, Timothy Hayes, spouse Bonnie Hayes from Brewer, Maine, Rosemary (Sue) Gilbert, spouse William Gilbert from EI Paso, Texas, Jerry Hayes spouse Roxanne Hayes from Edinburg, Maine. Post military in 1972 moved to Bangor, Maine where Bob was a property owner. Bob loved visiting his summer camp on First Roach Pond where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating with his wife Rosemary and documenting every visit of each visitor since the camp was built in the 60's Bob and Rosemary moved to Leesburg, Florida in the 90's where they made many friends in the Hawthorn Community. Bob and his wife took part in the many activities such as costume parties, fashion shows, dances, playing cards and serving breakfast at the big hall in Hawthorn. Bob became a Pro shuffle board player and participated in many tournaments. He was a Life time member of The American Legion (ME) and Air Force Sergeants Association. He also belonged to the Alzheimer's Association in EI Paso, TX where he walked the one mile walk for the past two years in October. Bob is preceded in death by his wife Rosemary who passed March 17, 2009. He leaves behind his three step-children also four grandchildren Col. Ty Gilbert (USAF) spouse Amanda Gilbert, Nikki Balderson spouse Commander Price Balderson,(Navy) Chad Hayes spouse Gina Hayes, Ryan Hayes also nine great grand-children Austin Gilbert, Reagan Gilbert, Walker Gilbert, Isla Balderson, Porter Balderson, Opal Balderson, Charlotte Hayes, Ellie Hayes and Grace Gilbert. A military service will be held September 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.
