Robert Andrew Hamilton

Robert Andrew “Bob” Hamilton, loving and beloved husband and father, passed away August 25th, 2012 at the age of 67. Born November 19th, 1944 to Ruth and Andrew Hamilton in Brooklyn, NY, Bob grew up in North Merrick. He joined ROTC and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College in 1966. Serving as an Army lieutenant in the Nike Hercules Missile Program, Bob trained at Fort Bliss, where he met and married his wife of 45 years, Jeanmarie, and was blessed with his daughter, Anne Marie. After retiring from military service, Bob began underwriting commercial lines for Commercial Union Insurance Company, and later joined JDW Insurance, where he produced commercial insurance as an account executive and vice president. Bob earned the professional designation of Texas Licensed Risk Manager and served three terms as President of the El Paso Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society. In 2010, he received the James F. Elliott Agent of the Year award from Independent Insurance Agents of El Paso, for whom he chaired the scholarship committee. Bob contributed to many organizations over the years, including the El Paso Garden Club, the El Paso Jaycees, and Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity. A member of the Brotherhood of St. Francis, Bob served as a greeter and Lay Eucharistic Minister for St. Francis Anglican Church. He will be fondly remembered for his engaging sense of humor, his love of gardening and rescue pets, and his love and dedication to his family, friends, work, and church. He is survived by his wife, Jeanmarie Hamilton, his daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Anne Marie and Scott D. Hamilton-Brehm, his mother, Ruth D. Hamilton, his sister, Doris Duarte, his brother and sister-in-law, John and Sue Hamilton, his parents-in-law, Joann and J. Warner Blake, his siblings-in-law, Hal Blake and Sue Litteken, his sister-in-law, Christie Godec, and his nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the El Paso Humane Society and the American Red Cross. A public memorial service will be held at 10:30 in the morning on Thursday, September 6th at St. Francis Anglican Church, 470 Eagle Drive. Funeral services have been entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes West, 480 N. Resler, www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net, with interment at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 4900 McNutt Road, Santa Teresa, NM.
