Robert F. Goldfarb

April 8, 1927 — September 18, 2024

El Paso

Bobby passed away September 18, 2024 at 97 years of age, surrounded by his loving family. An El Paso native born April 8, 1927, he is survived by his son Richard and his wife Ann, his daughter Janice and her husband Damon and his son-in-law, Ross Walker, as well as seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A true sports legend, he was a charter member of the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame, inducted into the USTA Southwest Tennis Hall of Fame and winner of numerous national junior and collegiate tennis championships. To this day, he is the youngest person to play in a Texas State Basketball Championship, which he won with his El Paso High School team. He was also the Captain of the University of Texas tennis team and the first Jewish player ever to play at the River Oaks Country Club during the 1948 NCAA national championships.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley and two daughters, Terry Walker and Donna Goldfarb. His modesty, friendships and terrific sense of humor will be sorely missed. Our thanks and gratitude go to his caregivers and numerous friends who paid him visits. Contributions can be made to Temple Mount Sinai, El Paso, Texas. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Temple Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
