Robert Eugene Dryden

September 13, 1929 — July 20, 2012

Robert “Bob” Dryden passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, peacefully in his sleep with his daughter, Cindy, son, Mark and sister, Betty by his side. Bob was born in Canton, Ohio on September 13, 1929. He joined the army in his early teens during WWII. He also served in Germany, Japan, and Korea. He received the WWII Victory Medal; Army of Occupation Medal (Germany & Japan); National Defense Service Medal w/OLC; Army Commendation Medal; and Meritorious Service Medal and achieved the rank of CWO4 before retiring. He was a member of El Paso Woodworkers Club, they made toys for children and also provided food for the Homeless Shelter. He was always willing to help where needed. He is also survived by son, Richard Dryden and daughter, Sandra Glazier, brothers, Joseph R. (Jackie) and William. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay; mother, Blanche Newberry and two brothers, Harold R. and Glenn. Memorial Services will begin at 10am, Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors located at 5200 Fred Wilson Ave. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Animal Rescue Center, El Paso Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
