Robert Edwin Austin

Robert (Bob) Austin was born to Robert and Ruth Austin on September 8, 1916 in El Paso Texas. After graduating from El Paso high school, Bob worked for State National Bank as a teller. During the war, Bob served in the Army Air Corps at Perrin Field in Sherman, Texas, where he met and married his wife Jackie. After the war, the couple moved to El Paso where Bob returned to his job at the bank and they raised their family, ultimately celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Bob was active in his church, Kiwanis club, Junior Achievement and scouting until his retirement in 1976. Bob and Jackie spent their retirement years traveling the United States from Seattle to Boston to Acapulco, Mexico in their motor home “Elvira”. Jackie passed away in 2006 and they are survived by their three children Lynn Beck, Virgil Austin and Rob Austin, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Committal Service will be held at 9:30am on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
