Riley Herman Pollock passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on July 3, 1936, Riley was a cowboy who loved to spend his days fishing out on the lake. At 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for six years as a paratrooper in the Airborne Division, and toured in Lebanon and Germany. While in Germany, he met the love of his life, Helga, and they soon married and returned to the States. In 1961, Riley joined the El Paso Police Department, where he proudly served the citizens of El Paso for twenty-six years, with the majority of his time on the Department spent “riding motors.” As important as serving on the Department was to Riley, his greatest joy was providing for and spending time with his family. Riley is survived by Helga, his devoted wife of fifty-two years; his daughters and sons-in-law, Geri Pollock and Andrew McQuade III, Theresa and Alfred Knoch, Connie and James Chesshire, and Pamela and Michael Reilly; and his grandchildren, Justin Knoch, Elliot Knoch, and Candice Blanchette and her husband Nolan. Riley was also awaiting the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Riley Drake Blanchette. He is also survived by two of his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ted and Beverly Pollock, and Ronald and Sandra Pollock, as well as Erna and Bertl Feuerstein, Franz and Irmi Fischer, and Heinz Luginger of Germany. Visitation will be from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, Friday, June 26, 2009, at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast, with a funeral service at 12:30 pm. Committal service will follow at 1:30 pm, Friday, June 26, 2009, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
