Richard M Taylor

Richard Melvin Taylor passed away peacefully on February 17, 2018 from causes incident to age. Born August 19, 1929 to Melvin and Jessie Taylor in Salt Lake City, Utah. After serving an LDS mission to the Southern States Mission and serving in the US Army during the Korean War, he found the love of his life, Caroline Rich. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 16, 1955. He earned a PhD with a double major in Agronomy and Plant Physiology. He was later employed by the Texas A&M Research Center in El Paso, Texas. His interests included lapidary, beekeeping, music, photography, gardening, painting, woodworking, and reading. As a member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a Bishop, Seminary Teacher, in the Stake Presidency, and in the presidency of the Tucson Arizona Mission, among many other callings. Survived by wife, Caroline Rich Taylor; brother Robert G. Taylor (Rea); four sons, R. James Taylor, David B. Taylor (Tricia), Jay D. Taylor (Julia), and Brain E. Taylor (Dukyong); 12 grandkids; and 10 great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by father Melvin Taylor; mother Jessie Beatie Taylor; sister Carol Ensign (David); 1 grandchild; 1 nephew; and 2 nieces. Funeral services will be held February 24, 1:00 PM at the LDS church 1212 Sumac Dr., El Paso, Texas. Interment will be February 27, 1:00 PM at Valley View Memorial Park, WVC, Utah.
