Richard John Taft of El Paso, Texas passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 with his family at his side after a long battle with cancer.
Richard J. Taft was born on August 2nd 1944 to Raymond and Mary Taft in Dunkirk,
New York.
On November 18th 1967 he married his soul mate and best friend Gail Janet Malachowski. Richard was a hard working family man who loved hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with family.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Gail Janet Taft; two daughters, Rosemarie Taft and Paula Henry; son, James Taft; sister, Barb Willis; brother-in-law, Don Willis; son-in-law, Skye Henry; seven grandchildren, Demi Libby, Jaylee Taft, Amanda Williams, Megan Chambers, John Williams, Robert Williams and Richard Williams, four great grandchildren Emma and Liam Chambers, Ethan Williams, soon to be born baby Dylan Luevano and several nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Mary Taft, his brother William Taft and great grandchild Silas Torres.
Richard Taft has many friends and family member from El Paso, Texas, Dunkirk, New York and Phoenix, Arizona who will miss him dearly. He was a thoughtful, loving, funny fun loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. His wisdom, unconditional love and sense humor will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr., El Paso, Texas 79904.
Funeral Mass with be held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 13, 2016 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church located at 10000Pheasant Rd., El Paso, Texas 79904. Committal Service will follow at 11:00am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
