Richard M. Lujan

Richard M. Lujan, 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Richard as he was called “Big Time” was born in Colorado City, Texas to Federico and Refugio Lujan on April 3, 1930 and he was a longtime resident of El Paso having opened the orginal Hamburger House at 7630 Northloop in 1975. He later relocated his restaurant to 676 N. Carolina Drive in 1989. While “hanging out” at the Kress in downtown El Paso, Julia caught his eye. Soon after the two found themselves on a blind date on October 31, 1949 where Julia vowed to not let Richard as he would say, “kiss her and forget her”. They were married on March 3, 1950 and spent the next 62 years happily in love. He is survived by his wife and forever “girlfriend”, Julia Bentancis Lujan; daughter, Beverly Marie Dillman and her husband, Michael Allen Dillman; sister, Sally Fleenor, Elva Lujan, and Griselda Macedo; grandsons, Rick-Andrew, Anthony Jae and John James Lujan; great-granddaughters, Luna, Marilyn, and Cera Marie Lujan; and beloved poodle Lady. He was not only a succesful business owner but an exceptional husband and father. He had the “Midas Touch!” Dearest Dad, you left us with such a profound hole in our hearts. We are like lost sheep without you to guide us, the only comfort we have is knowing one day we will be reunited in God’s Kingdom. We will love and miss you forever. Enjoy your quiet time now dad cause we’re coming! Visitation will be held from 5-9pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7pm, Monday, June 4, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 10am, Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
