Ricardo Jose Barcena Sr., 82, passed away on January, 24, 2013 at the Norman Veteran’s Center in Norman, Oklahoma. Ricardo was born on April 3, 1930, son of the late Guadalupe and Jose Barcena in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Cathedral High School, attended college and proudly served his country during the Korean conflict. He later found employment with Raytheon in which he was employed for 30+ years. While working overseas in Korea, he and his wife, the late and former Anne Karen Shumney, adopted 4 children. He later moved back to his home city, El Paso, where he lived most of his life. Ricardo is survived by his son, Ricardo (Linda) Barcena Jr.,loving daughters, Melissa (Craig) Williamson and Melinda Wills; adoring grandchildren, Ian and Marlene Barcena, Brittany and Abel Wills, Kylie Beasley; great-grandchild, Aaliyah Doolin; brother, Ruben (Irene) Barcena; sisters, Lucia Carrillo, Olivia (John) Wyndam, Josefina Perry, Yolanda (Ricardo) Barraza, and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe and Jose, his wife Anne, son Angel Andrew, brothers Roberto, Enrique and Raul. Ricardo was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend to all. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home-West with a Vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
