Reynaldo G. Chavira

Reynaldo G. Chavira, 92, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born on May 21, 1919 in Tyrone, New Mexico, moved to Silver City in 1923 and to El Paso, Texas in 1952 where he lived the rest of his life. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. He worked at and retired from Peyton Packing Company. Reynaldo is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Josefina Ulloa Chavira, children, Rosa Maria Ochoterena, Jesus J. Chavira (Irma Acosta), and Alicia Acosta; his grandchildren, Jesus J. Chavira Jr., Robert Chavira, David Chavira, Rene Chavira, Veronica Chavira, Bianca Chavira, Jessica Chavira, Yvette Chavira, Johanna Ochoterena, Sasha Ortez, Mark Acosta, Alexis Acosta, and Kristin Acosta; and 21 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012 with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-East, located at 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at Santo Nino de Atocha Catholic Church, 210 S. Clark. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Road. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesus J. Chavira, Jr., Robert Chavira, David Chavira, Rene Chavira, Mark Acosta, and Jorge Ortez Jr. Reynaldo Chavira has been called to share in the love and glory of God Almighty. He takes all our love with him and will be missed greatly until we meet again. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
