Reynalda Piña, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, one week short of her 97th birthday. She was born at the height of the Mexican Revolution in Las Nieves, Durango, to Judge Teodoso Piña and Donaciana Bañuelos. She was widowed at 27 when her husband Ignacio Castro was killed in a mining accident in Parral, Chihuahua. She nevertheless raised her four children on her own, always a loving mother and provider, working as a seamstress well into her 60s. She is survived by her daughter Marta Avila, her son Ignacio Castro and his wife Yolanda, her daughter Amparo Castro, and her daughter Carmen Torres, as well as 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. "Güita" was a loving, hard-working example for all of us, and we will miss her dearly. A memorial service will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Monday, January 12, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-West, Chapel of Remembrance with a Vigil at 6:00 pm. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West
