Refugio R. Sanchez

Refugio (Cuca) Sanchez, 82 passed away on April 13. Cuca was a devoted Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Aunt. She was a Civil Service retiree who was active in the Altar Society of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was also Past President and Lifetime Member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post # 5615 and a Retired Senior Volunteer with the Wellington Chew Senior Center’s Nutrition Program. She was born in La Mesa, NM on February 20, 1929 to parents Jose and Refugio Rios. She was preceded in death by her son, Abel Sanchez, Jr. and sisters: Guadalupe Guerrero and Estela Ybarra. She is survived by her son, Alfredo Sanchez; niece, Valentina Jacquez; nephews: Benito and Martin Guerrero; granddaughter, Cathryn Price; great-nieces: Ida Rocha, Isela Guitierrez, and Theresa Ybarra; great-great nieces: Mache and Liberty Rocha, and Erica DeLuna; and great-great nephews Xangelo Santiago and Jaime Guitierrez, Jr. Visitation will be held from 3-8pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 6pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 9am, Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Pallbearers: Alfredo Sanchez, Jaime Rocha, Jaime Guitierrez, Robert Greer, Hector DeLuna and Richard Bautista. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
