Raymond Dunigan

Raymond Dunigan passed away on August 11, 2010. He was born on November 22, 1924 in Bessemer, Alabama. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 in 1941. He also traveled with the Merchant Marines. In 1946, he met Frances Key. They were married on September 15, 1951, and they had two children. They were happily married until her passing in the year 2000. He was a graduate of Columbia University, with a Bachelors degree and a Masters in Social Work. He worked in the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. He retired in 1989. After retirement, he and his wife moved to El Paso to be close to their family. While in El Paso he served as a faithful member of the church community of St. Francis on the Hill. He was willing and able to help in any capacity he was needed. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was known affectionately as “GP” to his grandchildren and Uncle Ray to his extended family. He always encouraged his family to be and do their best. He is survived by his children Phillip and Adrienne, his grandchildren Stephanie, Matthew, Cara and Marissa. He is also survived by his brothers Alphanso, Joseph, and Curtis, and his sisters Irene, Eloise, and Annie Laura. Viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home-West. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 15, 2010 at St. Francis on the Hill. Services in entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes–West.
