Raquel Ortiz Contreras

Raquel Ortiz Contreras was born June 12, 1943 in Parritas, Saucillo, Chihuahua Mexico, to Roque and Juana Ortiz (+). Raquel married her lifelong partner Jose I Contreras (+), at her childhood home on Feb. 2, 1963. They went on to have 4 children Jose I Contreras (+) (Lori Valdez), Oscar A. Contreras, R. Arturo Contreras (Lisa Edelen Contreras), Joanne C. Muñoz (Arnulfo Munoz). 

After marrying Jose they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where Raquel worked as a bus aide with the SLC, district. Raquel made many friends at work and at church. Raquel and Jose later moved to Katy, Tx. Later they both went on to live with their daughter in Chaparral, NM. 

Raquel’s greatest joy was to see her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoy her cooking, and feeding them whether they were hungry or not. Seeing her grandchildren achieve their goals in life gave her much pride and joy. She loved sewing and learning new sewing tips and tricks from her sewing buddies.

Raquel loved to eat out and watching her novelas and then with technology she loved You tube videos of Don Shorty and many other cooking channels. 

Raquel would like to let her entire family know that she loved them with all her heart and would pray Gods protection over them daily. 

SERVICES WILL BE BROADCAST FOR THOSE WHO CAN NOT ATTEND IN PERSON.

Visitation will begin at 10:00am with a Prayer Service to start at 11:30am on Friday, September 06, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Committal Service to follow at 1:00pm on September 06, 2024 at Desert View Cemetery, 450 E. Lisa Dr. Chaparral, NM.
