Randolph L. Kelley, age 83, entered eternal rest peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 11,2024 in El Paso, Texas. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and will be dearly missed. He was born in Ogden, Utah on January 29, 1941. He lived in Wyoming spending his summers working at the family ranch. He graduated high school in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1959. Randy is preceded in death by his parents: Orville L. and Rachel S. Kelley. He is survived by his beloved wife: Lucy Kelley, his children: Melissa Kelley-Chiappone (Bill), Katharine Kelley-Martinez, Rebekkah Skelton-Hill (Rodney), John Skelton, and Matthew Skelton (Cristina), his brother: Raymond Kelley (Becky), 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Randy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June 1959 where he proudly served his country on board the USS Los Angeles for 27 months. He finished his service with The Marine Corps Special Operations 1st Force Recon in San Diego, California.
Randy graduated from Texas Western in 1966 and he received his Master’s degree from The University of Texas at El Paso in 1972.
While completing his master’s he began working at El Paso Natural Gas Company and later he was transferred to El Paso LNG in Houston, Tx through 1980. He then started a consulting firm, EnMar Resources until 1987. When he returned to El Paso, TX he rejoined El Paso Natural Gas Company in 1987, and he retired in 1996. He was involved in various business ventures. He began teaching Economics classes with El Paso Community College then ended with teaching Dual Credit Economics for seniors at Cathedral High School through EPCC.
Randy was a motorcycle enthusiast, being a proud owner of Harley Davidsons motorcycles. He was a lifetime member of the Harley Owners Group, “HOG”. Randy logged over 150,00 miles with Lucy riding throughout the western states, Pacific Coast, Rocky Mountains, and throughout the desert. He and Lucy rode to Milwaukee to celebrate Harley-Davidson's 90th and 95th anniversary celebrations. They also took an extended trip following the Lewis and Clark Expedition Trail from St. Louis to Seaside, Oregon. Randy shared his love of riding by taking all his grandchildren on motorcycle rides through the scenic roads of New Mexico.
While living in Houston, Randy was involved with civic organizations, youth sports, and was a church leader. After moving back to El Paso, Randy became involved in the AYSO organization as a coach, area referee, and westside commissioner.
Randy was received into the Catholic Church in 1997 at Christ the Savior Catholic Church under the guidance of Fr. Kobe. He later became a member of St. Luke where he was a class facilitator of Bishop Baron’s Catholicism Series.
Randy was a man of God, a kind and gentle soul that touched many lives in his journey. He acknowledged everyone with a smile, a firm handshake, or a hug. He was patient, a great listener, and very wise. May God Bless Him and May He Rest in Peace.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Homes-West with a Rosary to commence at 6:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 930 East Redd Road, followed by a Graveside Service at 12:30 pm at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Road.
