Growing up with four brothers and one sister, as the oldest, she became a role model for all. She was able to take home 2nd place in the state tournament held in Austin, TX She was also an active participant in the student council, Court of Hearts, Nurses Aid Club and the Homemakers of America. She then became a part of and retired from the EPISD and worked avidly for the Clardy E.S., Henderson M.S., and Jefferson H.S. PTA. Working for the school district, she became so accustomed to meeting new people and seeing new faces that she later sought out part time employment at the Cielo Vista Wal-Mart where she resigned due to medical reasons. She always devoted the majority of her time to politics. She was the president/secretary/treasurer of the Mexican American Democratic Party of El Paso. She was also a judge and precinct chairperson of precinct 82 for over 30 years as well the campaign manager for both Walter Mondale and Joe Olvera.
