Ramon Chavez

September 17, 1942 — August 3, 2008

Ramon Chavez Sr., born 9/17/42, outside the vicinity of Chihuahua, Mexico, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008 at the age of 65. Ramon was a resident of El Paso since 1965. He was well known for running Playmor Billiards on Montana for more than 20 years. He went on to work for the Child Crisis Center Discovery Shop where he dedicated many hours and service. He was an integral part of the Discovery Shop and cultivated many friendships which were very important to him. He was an extremely hard worker and never stopped providing for his family. He was well known for his humorous storytelling, his dedication to work, family and all his friends throughout his life. A beloved grandfather, father, son, brother, and uncle, he is survived by many family members. His children are daughters, Estela Hamblen, Victoria Santiago, and Christina Olivas; son, Ramon Chavez Jr. Loving granddaughter, Summer Jewel Olivas and sisters Nena Soto and Lilia Camacho and loving life partner Ellen Turner. He will be greatly missed but always loved in our hearts and minds. Please join us in celebrating his life. Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 pm, Friday, August 8, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Interment is private. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
