Ralph James DeRubeis

Dr. Ralph James DeRubeis was called to be with our Lord on April 25, 2008. He was born in Tussio, Italy on October 1, 1925 and was baptized Domenico Adriano Raffaele Angelo Teodoro DeRubeis but was affectionally known as “Ralph”. He came to the United States at age 4 and grew up in River Rouge, Michigan. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at age 17 and was a World War II veteran. Ralph attended Podiatric School in Chicago, Illinois, graduated in 1953 and practiced podiatry for 50 years in Detroit and El Paso, Texas. Ralph and his family moved to El Paso, Texas in the early 1970’s. Ralph enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing, and traveling. He was a kind and generous man and a devout Catholic and member of St. Luke Catholic Church. Preceded in death by his parents: Giacinto James and Oliva de Santis and his first wife Theresa DeRubeis. Survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Francesca Langarica DeRubeis; his son: Randall James DeRubeis, of San Antonio, Texas; daughter: Debbie DeRubeis of Huntsville, Alabama; stepchildren: Pat Barraza, Violet Canales and Armando Canales, Jr., Sister: Teresa Klucka of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren: Nicki DeRubeis, Jeannette DeRubeis, David Ray Ramirez, Carol Ann Ramirez, Melissa Marie Barraza, Amanda Danielle Barraza; great-grandchildren: Sarah Eliza Ramirez, Marcus Ramirez and Emmie Rose Barraza. Pallbearers: Randall James DeRubeis, Armando Canales Jr., David Barraza, Danny Barraza, Hector Barraza and Kevin Murray. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 4-8 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-West with a vigil at 7:00 pm., Funeral Mass at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes West.
