Ralph (Buddy) Herndon Oppenheim, age 86, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016. Buddy was a lifelong resident of El Paso and graduated from Austin High School where he enjoyed four years of football and track. He earned his BBA at Texas Western College and served in the navy during the Korean War working the catapults on the USS Valley Forge. Buddy worked in the Right of Way Department at the El Paso Natural Gas Company for over 30 years, and served as the president of the Local Chapter 35 of the International Right of Way Association. Buddy was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast and noted that his favorite pastimes were: “playing tennis and golf with my buddies.”
Buddy is preceded in death by his two sons, Walter and Wayne, and his twin brother, Paul. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ellenor, their two daughters, Karen Bezemek, and her husband, Michael, of El Paso, Julia Traber and her husband, Daniel, of Houston, and five grandchildren, Alex, Amanda, Clara, London, and Logan.
