Rafaela "Tita" Tenison

Mrs. Tita Tenison, 85 years old, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2010 at her home in Northeast El Paso, Texas. Born on June 8, 1925, in El Paso, Texas, Tita lived with her parents, Ramón and Ángela Dominguez, and brothers Ramón and Felipe. She married Jerry L. Tenison, a US Air Force veteran who retired from Raytheon Company, and had two children, Jerry and Debi. For 50 years they lived in Northeast El Paso where he died in 2002. A dedicated and loving wife and mother who enjoyed gardening and cooking, she was very active with the Boy Scouts of America, where she mentored many young men and received the prestigious Silver Fawn award given to select few women for distinguished service, hard work, self sacrifice, and dedication and making an impact on the lives of youth. She was also an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Church Roncalli club. She is survived by her son, Jerry D. Tenison (and Betty Hamann) of El Paso, and her daughter, Debra Annette (and spouse, Michael Montelongo) of Northern Virginia, her grandchildren, Amanda and Lauren, her brother Ramón and sister-in-law, Elma, her sister-in-law, Lupe, and her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Jerry L. Tenison, and her brother, Felipe. Sunset Funeral Home, on Hondo Pass in Northeast El Paso, is in charge of arrangements where a visitation will take place on Thursday, August 12, from 5 to 9pm; a Rosary will begin at 7pm. To celebrate Tita’s life, a mass will take place at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Friday, August 13, at 1:30pm. She will be buried alongside her husband at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery on Friday, August 13, at 2:30pm. Special thank you to her loving caregiver, Irma Molina.
