Rachel L. Wood

Rachel Lorraine Richins Wood, 87, of El Paso, Texas passed away August 7, 2018. Rachel was born September 16,1930 in Lordsburg, New Mexico to Ether Wellington Richins and Arminta Agnes Gordon Richins. Rachel grew up in Lordsburg and later moved to El Paso, Texas. Rachel graduated from Lordsburg High School and attended Bringham Young University in Provo, Utah. Rachel married Everett Leroy (Lee) Wood on June 26,1948 at Lordsburg, New Mexico. Rachel was a homemaker, farmer’s wife, telephone switchboard operator, administrative assistant, and finally U.S. Customs Senior Inspector, finishing her career in the Bahamas. Rachel was active in the LDS (Mormon) Church and served in various callings. Her special interest was the Ward Choir where she participated all of her life. Rachel's hobby was her children and grandchildren. She loved her home and her family life. Rachel is survived by her children, Glen and Patricia Wood, Las Cruces New Mexico; Susan and Dirk Parks, Midland Texas; Linda Wood, Las Cruces, New Mexico; Jack and Sue Wood, Bluebell, Utah; and Robert Wood, El Paso, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, and sister. Visitation will be at 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM with a Funeral Service at 12:30 PM, Monday, August 13, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1212 Sumac. Committal Service will follow at 2:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
