Philip G. Petrin, 78 passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Christiane Petrin; daughters, Catherine Williams (Terry, Sr.) and Caroline Petrin; grandchildren, Jennifer Williams, Stephanie Williams, Elizabeth Williams, and Terry Williams, Jr. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Philip was born July 21, 1929 in Bedford, Maine, to Joseph and Rose (Allard) Petrin. He was the youngest of 12 children. In 1951, he was drafted by the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. However, he never went to Korea, instead he went to Bordeaux, France, where he met Christiane Forgeront, his wonderful wife of 53 years. He went on to serve two tours in Vietnam and served multiple tours of duty in France, Massachusetts, Germany and Texas. During his service, he was awarded several commendations, including the Bronze Star Medal. After 27 years of service, he retired at Ft. Bliss, Texas on September 30, 1977. Visitation from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Sunday, March 9, 2008 with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, Monday, March 10, 2008 at Fort Bliss Chapel #2. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.
