Philip Newell Brown

Philip Brown was born on a small farm in Orrington, Maine. He joined the Navel Reserve while in high school. He graduated from Brewer High Brewer, Maine, in June 1955. On graduation day, he left home on a cruise to Portugal. Six months later, he said he had enough of the Navy and Joined the Army in January 1956 for three years. He went to drafting school and was transferred to a base outside of Heidelberg, Germany. He returned home in January 1959. He did not re-enlist. 

He loved skiing, hunting and guns. He reloaded his own ammunition. He raised a variety of vegetables and enjoyed raising honeybees. 

Phil was married twice. He is survived by one daughter, three stepchildren, two grandchildren, one brother and sister. He has several nieces and nephews.

Phil worked many construction jobs at various places from Maine to California building smokestacks and dams. drilling soil samples, and welding.

Around 1980, he gave his life to the religion of ECKANKAR. He studied the religion and became a member of the clergy. He moved West in 2004 to a ranch at Sealey Lake, Montana, worked as a contract firefighter and ranch manager. He moved to Livermore, Colorado, to manage another ranch, 

Phil retired in June of 2018 and moved to El Paso, TX, home of his brother.

Committal Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, October 04, 2024 at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave.
