Petra C. Saucedo

"A light from our household is gone, a voice we loved is stilled, a place is vacant in our hearts that never can be filled." Petra Contreras Saucedo, 99, was born in Concepcion Del Oro, Zacatecas, Mexico in 1907. She passed away in the company of loved ones at her daughter's house on December 20th. Petra's first priorities were always her family and God. Her children will always be grateful for the many great sacrifices she made in order to secure for them a better life. She was always listening, helping, and advising the family. The struggles she endured enabled her children to obtain a higher education, and gave new opportunities to the younger generations which followed her. She always took pride in the many accomplishments of her sons and daughters, and always maintained a positive attitude throughout many difficult situations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Saucedo, her sons Pedro Jr. and Enrique Saucedo, and her daughter Maria S. Valles. Petra will always be remembered in the hearts of her son Jesus Saucedo, daughters Virginia Abilez and Delia Saucedo, 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Petra will lie in state Tuesday from 4 pm to 9 pm at Sunset Funeral Home East on Carolina with a prayer service at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 am at the same location with an interment at Evergreen East Cemetery. Pallbearers: Everett Dion Saucedo, Cristobal Ramírez, Bill Abilez, Rene Abilez, Daniel Abilez and Peter Abilez Jr. Honorary Pallbearer is Jesus Saucedo.
