Perry L.D. Ray, 74, a dad extradonaire with a very special vitality for life, people and his country passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 in El Paso, Texas. Mr. Ray was born in Liberty, Missouri on February 18, 1935 as the son of Vincent Ray and Vera Cassol of Omaha, Nebraska. A beloved father, grandfather, and friend. He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Doris and is survived by his daughters, Margit Ray, Vera Ray, and Annette Corsaw and her husband, Mark, and son, Perry V. Ray and his wife, Veronica. He has two beautiful grandchildren, Dakota and Jade Corsaw. Perry L.D. Ray served 22 years with the United States Army followed by a distinguished career of 13 yeas with the United States Post Office. Mr. Ray was named grandparent of the year by the City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department in 2004 and also Volunteer Dad of the year in 2003. He was a valued volunteer with the Alta Vista Optimist Club and Special Olympics of El Paso. He will be missed for his willingness to help and support others, his unwavering commitment to his children and his famous smile and deep baritone voice. He was always able to put happiness, joy and laughter in peoples lives that few on the planet could equal. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm, Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be at 12:30 pm, Monday, December 21, 2009 at McCombs Baptist Church, 10601 McCombs, with Pastor Larry Vanley officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
