Pauline Hiryak Listrani, 85, loving mother and grandmother and resident of El Paso for 65 years, passed away on April 7, 2007 in El Paso, Texas. She was born in Reading, PA on June 11, 1921 to Michael and Mary Hiryak. She was “Sally the Shopper” for Popular Dry Goods and retried from Sears. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and also served as Altar Society President at Assumption Church. Mrs. Listrani is preceded in death by her husband Bruno, Ret. Assistant Fire Chief at Fort Bliss, for whom she was married to for 47 years and her dog Sysco. She is survived by: Patricia Dennis (Julian) of El Paso, TX, Victor Listrani (Carol) of Boca Raton, FL, sisters: Julie Jablonski, Helen Ballas,Irene Harter, and Gloria De Lucia all of Reading, PA. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Natalie Martina (Dr. Jeremy Bergsman) of Santa Cruz, CA, Anthony Martina of Austin, TX, Marc Listrani of Phoenix, AZ, Greg Listrani of Boca Raton, FL, great grandson: Raymond Martina of Santa Cruz, CA and Ruth Ragona of El Paso, her lifelong friend and dining partner. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm, Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home-West. A graveside service will be held at 10 am, Friday, April 13, 2007 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery where she will be buried together with her husband Bruno. Her grandchildren will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will include Julian Dennis and Herman Martina. Contributions can be made to The American Diabetes Association.
