Paula A. Escobar

Paula Amaya Escobar, age 93, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2021 at Casa Everay Comfort Care in El Paso, Texas. Paula was born on September 18, 1927 in El Paso, Texas and was a proud graduate of Bowie High School Class of 1945. She married her high school sweetheart after his return from WWII. Paula is preceded in death by her parents Miguel and Maria (Mamani) Amaya as well as her husband Ernesto Escobar. She was the last survivor of her eight brothers and sisters who preceded her in death. They were Consuelo Alderete, Frank Amaya, Grace Grado, Taide Horsley, Silveria Jones, Abbi Caldera, and Alfredo Amaya. Paula is survived by her three children, Olga Escobar Mendoza, Terri Escobar and husband Mark Farris, and Ernesto Escobar Jr. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jacob Herrera, Matt Herrera, Zachary Rivera (Tania), Liz Madrid, Sara Hernando, Emily Ward (Trey), and Natalie Escobar, and three step grandchildren, Megan, Katie, and Mark Farris II. She also is survived by four great grandchildren, Auryn Herrera, Fiona Rivera, Merit and Samuel Ward. Also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends she cared dearly for. Paula was a loving homemaker, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She gladly cared for them and enjoyed countless sleep overs at her home. All holidays, especially Christmas were celebrations she loved to have and spoil everyone with gifts. Her love of family and the beautiful memories we have of mom will live on in us. Many thanks to all the care givers and owners of Casa Everay who became a loving family to her. Their tender care and affection kept her happy and well during her final journey. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Monday, June 28, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Saint Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
