Paul Jurette Ducre, 86, resident of El Paso for almost 60 years, was called to his eternal home on January 19, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born in Lacombe, Louisiana on May 22, 1926, being the youngest child of Amade Ducre and Mary Biame. He was raised in Slidell, Louisiana together with his other nine brothers and sisters. At the age of 18 he was drafted into the Army to serve during the Second World War. He continued in military service for 27 years. Like countless families his career in the Army at Fort Bliss brought him, his first wife Estelle and his first two children, Paul Anthony and Joseph, to live In El Paso. Soon his other four children, Deborah, Gregory, Kennon, and Karen were born in El Paso. For many years he raised his six children alone, even taking them to live with him in Germany during a tour of duty. Long after the death of his first wife and raising six kids, he met and married Rufina Eva Carmona-Gomez. Although their children were all grown, we had a family of ten children. Eva and Paul were married for 17 years. Aside from their family life, Paul and Eva loved their second family, their community of Santa Lucia Church, where they were active parishioners and worked and formed many lasting and loving friendships --- it was a great part of their lives and brought them so much peace and happiness. Our dad loved singing and being in the parish choir. We will be forever grateful for how much the people of Santa Lucia respected, supported, and loved our father. Paul is survived by his children, Joseph F (and Nina) Ducre, Deborah L. Ducre-Coleman, Kennon Y. Ducre, and Karen Y. Ducre-Peppers, his step-sons, Joseph Carmona, Michael (and Gracie) Carmona, Mario (and Pat) Carmona, and John Carmona, another step son, Normand(and Carolyn) Doucette, his Sister-in-Law Lonnie Ducre, his daughter-in-laws Jam Nong and Mary Therese , his nephew Virgil Williams, and Rico Hester who has been like a son, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded to eternal life by his nine brothers and sisters, Estelle, his first wife, and Eva his second wife, his sons Gregory Q. Ducre and Paul Anthony Ducre. We love you dad, we will miss you. All services will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 1415 Dakota St. Visitation at 5:00 p.m followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013.
