Patrick Eugene Rankin

Patrick Eugene Rankin, an information technologist and resident of El Paso, TX, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024. He was 67 years old. 

Patrick was born to Robert and Eleanor Rankin in Knoxville, Iowa. Patrick graduated from the University of Arizona in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, specializing in computer science and programming. He worked as the IT manager for the El Paso Independent School District. Patrick’s hard work and dedication allowed him to quickly move up the career ladder at the school district. 

When he wasn’t spending time with his family, Patrick enjoyed fixing up old cars and spending time in his garden. He was an avid reader and a force to be reckoned with on the chess board. Patrick also had a soft spot for animals and was the proud father of many cats and dogs.

Patrick was predeceased by his parents Robert and Eleanore, and his brothers Michael and Dennis. He is survived by his loving wife, Mona Rankin (nee King), children, Andrew Rankin, Erin Mendoza and husband Matthew, Jennifer Carrillo and husband Suzano, and Jonathon Jones, and an older sister, Kristi Yanez. Patrick also leaves behind eight grandchildren and one great grandson. 

The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Patrick at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 14 at the United Methodist Church of Green Valley, 300 W. Esperanza Blvd., Green Valley, Arizona 85614. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
