Patricia R. Hernandez

Dr. Patricia Rodriguez Hernandez, age 63, our beloved wife, mom, sister and grandma “Nana”, passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2021. She was born September 23, 1957 in El Paso, Texas to Roberto and Elena Rodriguez. She married her best friend, Raul Hernandez Jr, on October 16, 1982. Patricia loved to serve and honor people. She was a light and displayed her love through acts of kindness. She motivated, encouraged and cared for others as one of her own. Her loving and powerful presence was felt with every encounter and she would challenge others to reach their full potential. Patricia graduated from Jefferson High School “La Jeff” in 1976, where she excelled in basketball and track, earning all-state honors in both sports. Patricia went on to earn her bachelor’s and play collegiate basketball at Colorado College, master’s at UTEP, and doctorate at NAU. Patricia began her career working at the women’s battered shelter. For years, Patricia worked in the Clint, El Paso and Socorro school districts as a teacher, coach and diagnostician. She retired in Texas and continued as a diagnostician at LCPS in New Mexico until her death. Her career suited her servant heart. She cared for children and the disadvantaged tremendously and always went above and beyond to help individuals grow and find their identity. She believed every student had the potential to positively impact their community, family and world. Her life was a living example of 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms”. She served selflessly with honor, integrity and love. She was a woman of God and lived it every day. Her light will never dim. It will shine brighter than a thousand suns and her legacy will continue on. Patricia is survived by her parents, Roberto and Elena Rodriguez, siblings, Irene, Rosemary, Alfredo, husband, Raul, sons, Raul, Joseph, Vincent, Daughter in Law Melissa and granddaughter Anabelle Grace.
