Patricia “Pat” Kayser Gevertz, 88, passed away peacefully in El Paso, TX on November 8, 2021. The daughter of Charles Elmo and Hallie Davis Patterson, Pat was born in Alpine, TX on April 17, 1933. She thrived growing up in West Texas, where she enjoyed spending time with her grandparents in Marfa and making memories at the family’s ranch, the Mimbrosa. Following Pat’s freshman year at Baylor University, she transferred to Texas Western College, which later became The University of Texas at El Paso, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and went to work at El Paso Natural Gas Company. Pat was a former member of the Junior League of El Paso, where she spent many hours volunteering for Family Services of El Paso. As a parishioner at the Church of St. Clement, she served on the Altar and Flower Guilds. In addition, she valued her many years as the assistant to the rector of the Church of St Clement. Pat was an avid gardener and a voracious reader. She also enjoyed weekly games of Mahjong when living in Alto, NM. Above all, Pat was a loving and caring mother and a devoted “Lita” to her grandchildren. Her presence will be missed by so many. Pat is survived by her children, Charles Hughes Butterworth (Julie) of Dallas, TX and Cynthia Butterworth Gallagher (Claiborne) of El Paso, TX; granddaughters Claire Butterworth Charhon (Devin) and Caroline Hughes Butterworth of Dallas, TX, Casey Gallagher Ballantyne (Kyle) of Hanford, CA, and Arraby Anne Gallagher of Austin, TX; great grandsons Samuel Bennett Charhon and Davis Everett Charhon; step-son William Edgar “Billy” Kayser of Las Cruces, NM; grandsons Ian Pryce Kayser (Harper) of Clinton, MS and Aaron Casey Kayser (Mary) of Santa Fe, NM; close family friend Klaus Stratmann of Houston, TX; as well as numerous Davis family cousins. She is preceded in death by her brother Charles Davis Patterson, husbands Edgar William “Casey” Kayser and Harry Gevertz, and step-son John Douglas Kayser. The family greatly appreciates Golden Park Adult Foster Care and Hospice of El Paso for the special care and attention given to Patricia. A service in celebration of the life of Patricia Kayser Gevertz will be held on Saturday, November 20, at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Clement, 810 N. Campbell, El Paso, Texas, followed by a reception in the Mayfield Room. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Church of St. Clement, 810 N.
