Patricia A. Arnold was born September, 2, 1958 in El Paso, Texas where she lived until her passing September 21, 2017. Guided by her faith in God, love of learning, and sense that all things are possible, Patricia did everything in an enduring, thoughtful, and wonderful way.
Married to Bruce Arnold for 34 years, they were blessed with two children, Alex and Pamela. Her family was the joy of her life and they grew, adventured, and worshipped together.
With a camera in hand and a unique invitation for every occasion, Patricia chronicled and made events memorable. She celebrated, and helped others feel very special about, the changing seasons, holidays, and major life events. Her teacher-sweater and holiday socks collection is so extensive that for Christmas alone, she laughingly shared she could wear a different one each day beginning in early November.
Patricia instilled in the children around her a love of reading, learning, and the foundation needed to reach for the stars. Recently retired after 34 years as an educator/librarian in the El Paso Independent School District, she was an original staff member of Whitaker Elementary School. Spending thousands of hours reading and evaluating hundreds of children’s novels as a member of the TLA’s Texas Bluebonnet Award Selection Committee, Patricia, true to form, was most thrilled that the books she read would contribute to the school library collection.
Volunteerism includes the PTAs at Wainwright, Whitaker, and Park Elementary Schools, Canyon Hills MS, and Chapin HS. Patricia provided tireless support of the swim teams at Park Foothills and Chapin. Much loved, Patricia will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and kind spirit; and those who cherish her will think of her whenever they see anything purple.
She is survived by Bruce Arnold, Alex Arnold, Pamela Baker (Jopy), and her beloved grandson, Ryan Arnold; brother, Hector Arreola (Espy); sister, Norma Sanchez (Robert); extended family, and countless friends.
