Oscar Dane Bock September 30, 1913 – March 18, 2007 Oscar D. Bock, 93, of El Paso, Texas, was called home by our Lord on March 18, 2007. He was born in Kempton, Indiana on September 30, 1913 to John Henry and Edna Ethel (Rayl) Bock. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Maurice Bock. On November 2, 1935, in West Lafayette, Indiana, he married the former Helen Aileen Clement, who survives. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2005. He was the loving father of Nancy J. (George) Badgero of Granger, Indiana, John H. (Patricia) Bock of El Paso, Texas, Susan J. Bock of Cincinnati, Ohio, and James A. (Linda) Bock of Loveland, Ohio. Also surviving are fourteen loving and wonderful grandchildren: Dane (Kim) Badgero, Kirk (Donna) Badgero, Tony (Lana) Bock, Joe (Kristen) Bock, Kimberly Bock, Shelly (Dave) Dallich, Michael (Maria) Bock, Rachel Bock, Ginger Bock, Adam (Michelle) Bock, Amanda (Bart) Blair and Robyn (Joe) Olivo, Kelly (Sean) and Kevin Fleming. He leaves twenty-eight great grandchildren: Jennifer, Heather, Dominic, Elizabeth, Jessica, Dominic, Dreanna, Jonah, Lauren, Brandon, Caleb, Ahmad, Noah, Joshua, Jacob, Gabriel, Karis, Joey, Sofia, Mattison, Aiden, Nicholas, Kevin, Kristen, David, Julie, Jay and Austin. Mr. Bock also leaves three great-great granddaughters, Camryn Nicole, Mikylah Jeanne and Danielle Elizabeth and one great-great grandson, Alex Michael. Oscar was a graduate of Central High School in South Bend, Indiana in 1932. As a young adult he was the Master Councilor in the Order of the Demolay in South Bend and later became a Mason. He attended Purdue University where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He worked for GMAC before settling with his family in South Bend to work for the Studebaker Corporation. He was the Assistant to the President of the Export Department at Studebaker. In 1962, he began his own export/import company, Global Traders, Inc. His wife, Helen, served as Vice-President for the company. While in South Bend, he was an active member of the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon. In 1973, Mr. Bock relocated his company to Wilmington, Ohio. He and Mrs. Bock traveled extensively throughout the world and had numerous good acquaintances in many countries. In Wilmington, Mr. Bock was an active member of the Wilmington Presbyterian Church. He and his wife retired to El Paso, Texas in 1982, where they have had an active life until recently. They have resided at White Acres Retirement Community since 1996. Oscar was incredibly devoted to his business and his family. His happiest moments were spent with family. He enjoyed studying and discussing investments and watching his favorite video tapes. He was affectionately known as the “Chief” by his family. Family will be receiving friends from 9 – 11am with a chapel service to celebrate Oscar’s life to follow at 11:30 am at the Sunset Funeral Home on Resler Avenue on Tuesday, March 20, 2007. Officiating will be the Rev. Lynette Meyer of the First Presbyterian Church of El Paso. A funeral service will also be held at the Bubb Funeral Home on Main Street in Mishawaka, Indiana on Friday, March 23rd in the afternoon. Interment will be at the City Cemetery in Mishawaka, IN.
