Ophelia Sainz Cisneros went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2011 at the age of 84. She was a devoted wife, preceded in death by her husband in 1995, and a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Cisneros is survived by her daughter, Emily Shipley, her 5 grandchildren, Cynthia Blalack, Michelle Shipley, Valerie Underwood, Leona McCord and Raven Shipley, her 8 great-grandchildren, John Blalack II, Alexis Greene, Jessica Blalack, Joseph Blalack, Cassie Underword, Breann McCord, Shipley Pennison and Bryce McCord, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, John Blalack III and a baby girl due to arrive in the Spring of 2012. Mrs. Cisneros was born in Deming, NM on October 22, 1927. She proudly supported the war effort by working as a Pipe Fitter during World War II in the San Francisco Naval Yards. She met and married her husband, Thomas G. Cisneros, after the war and followed him around the world as he served the U.S. Army, retiring in El Paso, TX. They had 2 children, a son and daughter; they sadly lost their son in 1978. Mrs. Cisneros will be remembered in a graveside ceremony at 1:00 PM on November 2, 2011 at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
